Pre completion sound insulation testing for new build, conversions, schools etc.

Acoustic Surveillance and Testing Ltd is a UKAS accredited testing laboratory for conducting sound insulation testing for Part ‘E' of the building regulations and all applications using BS EN ISO 140-4, BS EN ISO 140-7. It is accredited to ISO 17025:2005.

Using Class 1 sound level meters, equipment and professional analysis software, we provide detailed reports that are accepted by building control.

Due to our wide range of experience in sound testing and acoustic design, we have built up a range of data that enables us to determine which sound proof systems and products perform best in each application.

Client makes initial enquiry. We give client quote at time
of call. If client wants to proceed there and then, we email written quote and order form to them to sign and return with a 50% deposit either by cheque or bank transfer.

TEST is conducted

Within 72 hours

Results are verbally confirmed when data is processed
at the office

Report is sent to client with invoice. Balance of payment due within 14 days

As the above process shows, we aim to provide a fast efficient turn round time. To help us maintain this high level of service, we expect our clients to honour the agreed timescales with regard payment. The following section is a guide to the site conditions that are needed for the test.

Site Requirements

(summary):

  1. On the day of the sound testing, the site must be quiet.
  2. There should be 240V power supply in each area to be sound tested.
  3. All doors, windows and vents should be fitted, and be able to close.
  4. Floor coverings i.e. carpets should NOT be fitted.
  5. Make sure that all perimeters of floors, walls, ceilings and service ducts/boxing, are well sealed.

What happens if the test fails?

Most of the tests pass. However if a test fails, we will try to identify the weakness and provide guidance on how to improve the sound insulation prior to retesting.
